The present work by the California School of Watercolor Artist - James March Phillips, depicts a snap-shot of the extremely dangerous job "Rivermen" (also known as log drivers or river pigs) faced during the perils of their work.  The Rivermen sometimes rode logs more than 300 or more miles down-river to the mills - It was a treacherous job, not for the faint of heart.
