A wonderful mix media collage on board by Rolph Scarlett - displaying influences of Picasso's work. The present work is one of a hand-full of larger scale collages known to exist by Rolph Scarlett.

 

Rare early, dated Non-Objective Geometric abstraction by Rolph Scarlett - acquired directly from the estate representative, Harriet Tannin, Woodstock, NY. 

 

Rolph Scarlett was amongst the third largest holdings of the Guggenheim Museum (behind Bauer & Kandinsky). Solomon Guggenheim, at the behest of Hilla Rebay - Guggenheim's art advisor - gave Scarlett the longest Guggenheim fellowship of any artist, 11 years. Guggenheim acquired over 60 works by Scarlett for the museum.
