A simple, yet revolutionary sterling silver ring, having geometric elements - by Rolph Scarlett.

Scarlett took an apprentice position at his uncle’s jewelry firm in Guelph just after the turn of the 20th century, his training there lasted five years. BENTON GALLERY has amassed the largest collection of Scarlett "Jewelry Pencil Templates" (drawings) numbering into the hundreds (some attached) - with some modernist jewelry designs by him dating from 1915, 1916 & 1917 - documenting Scarlett's profound interest in jewelry as a high art form. Towards the end of his career - "when he was limited in his mobility" Scarlett crafted some of the finest examples of modernist jewelry ever created by a mid-cetury artist. These works are considered by many to be an undervalued body of work.

I bought this hand-signed silver ring through Fletcher Gallery (Woodstock) - from a student of Scarletts' who lived near the artist in Woodstock, New York. Blake Benton
